The Federalist Society has vetted all conservative justices who would only back conservative cases that were brought to court. John Roberts’ wife Jane received millions of dollars in salary compensation that was not reported to place lawyers in high profile law firms. Clarence Thomas was the most corrupt justice on the court accepting luxury yacht vacations, private jet trips, all expense paid vacations to private retreat, luxury high end motor home, and getting his mother’s home remodeled and paid for by Harlan Crow. Plus, his wife Virgina conservative organizations were funded and salary paid for by Harlan Crow.
Since 2022, criticism of the Court by Democrats has risen, who have increasingly viewed the court as being illegitimate and being partisan. The court’s legitimacy has been questioned by its liberal bloc of justices, as well as the general public. Journalist Joan Biskuic argues that Donald Trump has had the greatest impact on the court, with the court transformed by him just as much as the rest of American politics.
In a July 2022, research paper entitled “The Supreme Court’s Role in the Degradation of the U.S. Democracy,” the Campaign Legal Center, founded by Republican Trevor Potter, asserted that the Roberts Court “has turned on our democracy” and was on an “anti-democratic crusade” that had “accelerated and become increasingly extreme with the arrival” of Trump’s three Supreme court Justices: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney
