Make America Great Again

“Make America Great Again” (MAGA) is a slogan popularized by Donald Trump to represent his conservative movement and reinforce his political persona. However, his first presidency was marked by significant controversy. He was impeached twice and later charged in connection with efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, including the events surrounding the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. During his time in office, Trump also appointed numerous federal judges and Supreme Court justices, shaping the judiciary in ways that many argue could favor him when legal challenges arise before the courts.

During his first term in office, Donald Trump made more than 30,000 false or misleading statements, according to independent fact-checking organizations. Among the most consequential claims were his repeated denials regarding Russia’s role in aiding his rise to the presidency. This matter remained a central controversy throughout and after his administration.

“Even after the election, a malevolent narcissist remained at the helm—a man who had deliberately infected the nation with a dangerous stupidity, followed blindly by millions of supporters living in a cult-like world of paranoid fantasy and magical thinking. These followers carelessly spread a dual contagion of Trumpian hatred and lethal disease. This dynamic was promoted and amplified by Fox News, Breitbart News, and other right-wing media outlets, weaponized by Russian intelligence through social media, and absorbed into conspiratorial belief systems propagated by QAnon and other extremist cults.â€
